If you spend any time around craft NA circles, you’re going to spot the name Go Brewing a number of times. One of the rising stars of the scene, they pump a refreshingly wide range of alcohol-free beers out of suburban Chicago, to much acclaim so far. I obviously had to try some of their juice, and find out – is it all hype, or one of the next big names in non-alcoholic beer?

What Does it Taste Like?

The first whiff of Go Brewing’s Not Just Another Story is like walking into a donut shop, popping out of the glass with a fresh glazed donut note. More traditional resin and fresh hops linger behind. On the palate, the body stops just short of medium, but remains substantial enough for the style. A touch of resin carries a concise citrus note along with a persistent bitterness to a crisp, dry finish. A heavier vegetal hop bitterness comes through at the end, without battering you around.

Is Go Brewing’s Just Another Story Any Good?

This beer hits all of the baseline elements of a solid N/A IPA with a safe, inoffensive profile. If anything, my one complaint would be that the beer is too polite – I’m not one to always seek the most extraordinary hop adventures, but this felt like it was only hitting 80% of its flavor potential, leaving some pop and excitement from the hops behind. Turn the volume up a bit more, and this would be a really well-rounded experience.

Food Pairing

Paid this with some BBQ ribs and fried chicken. Throw some Carolina hot sauce in there – this beer can take a step back to Boulder foodnflavors
